Field Notes are occasional reflections from the studio—thoughts about making, seeing, and the quiet discoveries that continue to reveal themselves over time. I've gathered them here for you to explore at your own pace.

Come in. Stay awhile. Here's what I've been wondering about lately...

If something here resonates with you, I'd love to hear from you.

Sometimes You Meet the Nicest People in Your Dreams

Last night I dreamt that I talked with the Pope. We met at the bottom of a snowy hill after both of us had slid down. As we walked along, we just talked and laughed. I can’t remember the details except he said he liked mac and cheese and he said “Oooo!” when I told him I was looking forward to making a new recipe for mac and cheese that included Boursin (thanks, Joanna Gaines!). After a while he had to go to a meeting and I had to go find my purse. We both reached out our hands at the same time. As I shook his I thanked him for walking with me. He smiled. I didn’t kiss his ring.
