I’m Karen Anne.
I’m an artist, designer, and maker. I’m a creative explorer and a passionate experimenter. I think outside of boxes, color outside of lines, and follow the road less traveled.
A nomad since birth, I moved thirty three times before finally settling in our present home. I’ve had the good fortune to live in Norway, Italy, Japan and twice in Hawaii. Include all the other places within the continental US, and it’s a blur of packing and unpacking, hellos and goodbyes. Now I live and work in Rochester, New York with my husband Dean and Beyla, our sweet blue merle mini Aussiedoodle. My studio, a happy mess filled with possibilities, is in our home, conveniently off the kitchen.
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t doing or thinking something creative. I think I drove my parents and teachers nuts as a result - and now it’s my husband, kids, and friends. I’m grateful for their continued support and encouragement as it has given me the confidence to find my voice, grow artistically, and share my work that I’m grateful has been published as well as exhibited and collected nationally and internationally.
I took a hiatus from exhibitions the past 6 years as I focused on the joys of becoming the proud grandmother of 4 beautiful wee souls. Now that life has returned to being a bit more predictable, I look forward to stepping back into my professional life and sharing my work more consistently here and in exhibitions.
In addition to my creative work, I am Mom to my two beautiful daughters, “Gigi” to my four sweet grand children, a Reiki master/teacher, and a retired Navy officer.
Fun Facts:
  1. My family calls me the Volumetric Savant because I can always pick out the perfectly sized containers for leftovers.
  2. I flew a Cessna 150 solo from Naples to Rome and back when I was taking flying lessons while stationed in Naples, Italy with the Navy.
  3. I practice Transcendental Meditation twice a day.
  4. I won a first place medal in slalom skiing when I was 6 years old and living in Oslo, Norway with my family.
